Maternity care in Sandefjord
You are now in an exciting phase of your life. For most women, expecting a baby is natural and a time of joy. This period can, however, also offer many challenges.
Our aim is to offer you individual maternity care. We base our care on the recommendations given by the health authorities regarding number of checkups and what the maternity care should entail.
We offer follow-up of normal pregnancies, referrals to scans, specialists or hospitals when necessary. We also cooperate with your family doctor.
In addition to the actual checkup, we set aside time for any questions you may have or topics you wish to discuss.

- The development of the pregnancy.
- Guidance for self care.
- The unborn baby’s need and the new born baby’s ability for social interaction.
- Preparation for the birth, safety precautions, pain during childbirth and the desire to give birth.
- Choice of place to give birth.
- The first few days after giving birth.
- Breastfeeding.
- How to cope with the new life situation, parent preparation.
Bring any papers you have regarding your pregnancy. Remember to bring a urine sample every time, both when visiting your midwife and doctor (morning urine). Special little containers for this can be bought at the chemist.
The midwife service is located at the Council Health Department at Holmbrua 2, Søebergkvartalet. Tel. 33 41 65 80. Parking available both at Aagaards plass and in the garage under Søeberg.
Feel free to bring your husband, boyfriend, friend or relative to your appointments. For your first appointment, we set aside 1 hour. For later checkups, 30 minutes. Should you require an extended consultation, we will set aside time for this.
